This event recognizes and presents awards to those who have excelled within the police department

Baker to Vegas Race - April
This prestigious and unique law enforcement foot race invites law enforcement officers from around the globe to compete for the coveted trophy, promoting camaraderie and encouraging physical fitness
The race starts in Baker, California, and ends in Las Vegas, Nevada

Golf with a Cop - Summer Youth Golf Program
This program is an opportunity for youth (6 to 16) to learn golf with a golf pro and SLCPD officers

The SLCPF sponsors scholarships for youth whose families cannot afford the registration fee
Police Pay It Forward – August School Supply Shopping and December Holiday Shopping

This community outreach event helps underprivileged children (identified through local schools) purchase school supplies and holiday shopping

Each student is partnered with a police officer and gets $100 to buy back-to-school supplies and clothing. During the holiday season, buy gifts and take photos with Santa Claus

Usually held at Target for 50 to 60 kids with breakfast provided or at Walmart for 50 to 60 kids with breakfast hosted by Little America

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
SLCPD Officer-Submitted Requests
While on duty, SLCPD officers often pay for community members' critical needs out of their pockets, including emergency shelter, food or basic clothing needs
SLCPF reimburses officers for submitted expenses
Trick or Treat Community Event
This community outreach event brings children and families to the Public Safety building for an afternoon of trick-or-treating and Halloween fun
Held at the Public Safety Building, each SLCPD unit hosts a decorated table with an activity

Explorers Program
This program builds relationships with local youth, introduces them to Learning for Life activities, and interests them in a law-enforcement career
Events throughout the year include Mini Police Academy, competitions, ceremonies, a week-long camp, and service projects
Explorers meet every Tuesday evening for 4 hours at a local Police station
SLCPF funds the Explorers Program
